Welcome to Hemyock Primary School

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Hemyock Primary School website. We thank you for your interest in our friendly village school and warmly invite you to find out more about us.

Hemyock Primary School is vibrant, dynamic and caring.   We aim for all the children to develop a positive attitude to learning so that each child strives to achieve the highest possible standards and a clear sense of purpose and value.

A community for life long learning, a hub of excellence where children can achieve full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.

We aim to help your child achieve the highest standards, enjoy the experience of school life to the full and move on well prepared for the future. Our school is small enough for us all to know each pupil personally and we want you and your child to be happy as part of our school community.

Best Wishes,

Gary Chown                                                              Leanne Arrowsmith

Hemyock  Primary is part of the Children First Federation which was formed in March 2010. The Children First Federation consists of Hemyock, Wilcombe and Sampford Peverell C of E  Primaries and Sidbury C of E Primary School who joined us in November 2011.  We have a “schools within school” philosophy that ensures we all work very closely together in ensuring the achievement of the highest standards in all four schools whilst maintaining the individuality and autonomy of the individual schools.    Our Federation provides excellent opportunities for teachers and other staff to develop their professional expertise which directly impacts on the quality of teaching and learning for the children.  Staff are able to share their best practice within a professional learning community developing an exciting and innovative curriculum for all our children.

The Children First Federation (CFF) is part of the Primary Academies Trust.  The PAT was established on the 1st November 2011 and includes; The First Federation, Orchard Vale Primary, South Brent Primary and The CFF making a total of 11 primary schools.  Being part of the PAT further increases our capacity to share best practise, specialisms and work in a collaborative way to provide high quality learning for all our children.

Our Aims for the school and its children are based around five core principles

Respect - A community who have respect for themselves, for others and for their environment, who are excited about learning and who see no limit to what they can achieve.

Challenge – Enthusiastic, reflective and responsible learners who will embrace challenges and work hard to achieve their personal goals.

Creativity – A creative and stimulating environment that will enable children to develop the skills they will need to access learning opportunities for the rest of their lives and to take their places as confident and fulfilled members of society.

Safety - A safe and caring place where everyone is valued and where their individuality, culture and heritage are celebrated.

Partnership – A partnership with parents and the wider community that strengthens the work of the school and encourages every child to take pride in their achievements; extending and enriching the experiences and opportunities open to the children.
