Physical Education
Embrace Community Be Curious Show Respect Believe in yourself
PE at Hemyock, provides children with opportunities to be physically and mentally active both inside and outside of school, which in turn means we aim to promote long–term health and wellbeing.
We aspire to offer a wide range of clubs to further enhance our PE provision and our children are eager to attend after school clubs and competitive sporting events.
Implementation
In PE lessons you will see:
- A skills-based approach to teaching and learning through a supportive ethos, whereby mistakes are seen as part of the learning process.
- Planning that is progressive in skills.
- Safe practice throughout.
- ALL children being physically active.
- A managed element of healthy competition.
- The effective use of specialist equipment and apparatus, where appropriate.
Impact
Our aim is for children to understand the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle and to be fluent in the fundamentals of team games, catching, throwing, attacking, defending, winning and losing, as well as developing skills in outdoor activities. They progress well throughout each year group and meet National Curriculum objectives.
