  • World Mental Health Day 2022

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

Our Mental Health Ambassadors planned a fantastic two day event to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

On Friday 7th October, they raised money for the mental health charity YOUNGMINDS by asking staff and children to wear rainbow non-uniform. They held a disco in the hall, during morning break and lots of craft and team games at lunch. They even setup a photobooth area for children to pose with props with their friends. In the afternoon, each class was asked to have a ‘happy half hour’ together and do something fun.

On Monday 10th October, they asked children to take part in the #helloyellow challenge. They made friendship bracelets and created portraits of themselves.

  • World Book Day 2022

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

At Hemyock, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of World Book Day! It was a day filled with lots of exciting, celebratory ways to promote reading for pleasure. In the morning, each member of staff read a story to different groups of children around the school. There was also a whole school assembly for us to see all the costumes and to hear Mr Greenhall read an extract from the book ‘Boy’ by ROALD DAHL. Throughout the day we shared our favourite stories, participated in live lessons and created stories of our own. To finish the day off we were treated to a live reading from Michael Morpurgo. What a wonderful day!
